6. Grammar Tips or Culture Notes
- In Mandarin, verbs don’t change for tense. Time is shown by adding words like 今天 (today), 已经 (already), etc.
- The 5S system, although from Japan, is recognised in Chinese-speaking workplaces, especially factories. The five words are often translated as:
- 整理 (Sort),
- 整顿 (Set in order),
- 清扫 (Shine),
- 清洁 (Standardise),
- 素养 (Sustain).
